Reading history
One point per day, each of them the 30-day window ending that day. A day with no snapshot is a gap in the line, never a line drawn through it.
History starts when seven daily snapshots exist with a reading.
Daily snapshots with a reading so far: 0. A snapshot is written once a day and carries a reading only once the subject has ten counted ballots in the window.

A quarantined or excluded ballot is recorded and not counted, and nothing is ever deleted: releasing one makes it count again. The excluded figure is site-wide because the exclusion list stores a ballot id, a reason and a date, and not a subject, so a per-subject figure would be a guess. How exclusions work.

Why people split
Buy now, pay later is not really a loan sold to the shopper; it is a service sold to the shop. Most of the plans charge the customer no interest, and the provider instead takes 2% to 8% of the transaction from the merchant (well above the 1.3% to 3.5% a card network charges), with contracts that usually forbid the retailer passing that cost on at the till. The provider therefore makes money only if people keep buying and keep repaying, which is why approval is instant and uses a soft credit check. That design is also the complaint. The UK's Financial Conduct Authority warned in 2022 that a significant proportion of users did not fully understand the terms of their borrowing, and in May 2024 the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reclassified BNPL providers as credit-card providers under the Truth in Lending Act, requiring disclosures and billing dispute rights from 30 June 2024, while leaving ability-to-repay rules and fees untouched. The concentration is generational: by 2024 BNPL made up about 28% of unsecured credit held by Americans aged 18 to 24, against roughly 17% for other age groups.
