Reading history
One point per day, each of them the 30-day window ending that day. A day with no snapshot is a gap in the line, never a line drawn through it.
History starts when seven daily snapshots exist with a reading.
Daily snapshots with a reading so far: 0. A snapshot is written once a day and carries a reading only once the subject has ten counted ballots in the window.

A quarantined or excluded ballot is recorded and not counted, and nothing is ever deleted: releasing one makes it count again. The excluded figure is site-wide because the exclusion list stores a ballot id, a reason and a date, and not a subject, so a per-subject figure would be a guess. How exclusions work.

Why people split
Nobody argues about whether a home printer prints; they argue about what it costs to keep one alive. The inkjet printer is the textbook case of the razor-and-blades model: the machine is sold at or below cost to generate sales of proprietary cartridges, which is where the profit sits. The tactics used to defend that arrangement are documented - designing cartridges so that specific components can be patented, invoking the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to stop third parties reverse-engineering them, and, rather than merely displaying a warning, disabling the printer outright when a non-proprietary cartridge is inserted. In extreme cases the cost of replacing disposable ink or toner approaches the cost of buying new equipment with cartridges included, which is why a working printer can feel like a liability. It has been fought in court: in Lexmark International v. Static Control Components the Sixth Circuit held that circumventing Lexmark's cartridge lock does not violate the DMCA, while in August 2005 Lexmark won a separate case over box-wrap licence terms.
