Reading history
One point per day, each of them the 30-day window ending that day. A day with no snapshot is a gap in the line, never a line drawn through it.
History starts when seven daily snapshots exist with a reading.
Daily snapshots with a reading so far: 0. A snapshot is written once a day and carries a reading only once the subject has ten counted ballots in the window.

A quarantined or excluded ballot is recorded and not counted, and nothing is ever deleted: releasing one makes it count again. The excluded figure is site-wide because the exclusion list stores a ballot id, a reason and a date, and not a subject, so a per-subject figure would be a guess. How exclusions work.

Why people split
Reality television did not win an argument about taste; it filled a hole. COPS was developed because the 1988 Writers Guild strike left a network without scripted programming, and it went to air in spring 1989. The same year, Avid's non-linear editing systems made it practical for the first time to cut hundreds of hours of unscripted footage into a usable show, removing the technical barrier that had kept the form marginal. The format grammar arrived from the Netherlands in 1991, when Nummer 28 put strangers in a house together and used the confessional interview as narration; Big Brother and Survivor turned that into a global template within the decade. The construction is not a rumour. Producers of two British series have admitted coaching cast members on what to say to draw more emotion from a scene, and the standard criticisms (storylines written in advance, staged scenes, misleading edits) describe normal practice rather than allege misconduct. Which is roughly what viewers already believe: only 14% think what they are watching is genuine always or often.
