Reading history
One point per day, each of them the 30-day window ending that day. A day with no snapshot is a gap in the line, never a line drawn through it.
History starts when seven daily snapshots exist with a reading.
Daily snapshots with a reading so far: 0. A snapshot is written once a day and carries a reading only once the subject has ten counted ballots in the window.

A quarantined or excluded ballot is recorded and not counted, and nothing is ever deleted: releasing one makes it count again. The excluded figure is site-wide because the exclusion list stores a ballot id, a reason and a date, and not a subject, so a per-subject figure would be a guess. How exclusions work.

Why people split
Very little of the argument about avocado toast is about the food, which is old and unremarkable. People in the San Francisco Bay Area were eating avocado on toast by at least 1885, the California Avocado Association described serving small squares of avocado toast as an appetiser in a 1915 report, and the New Yorker ran an avocado sandwich on whole wheat in 1937. The restaurateur Bill Granger is often credited with putting it on a modern café menu in Sydney in 1993, though Brisbane had it documented as early as 1929. What changed is what it came to stand for. After it became a food trend in the 2010s, an Australian columnist used $22 avocado toast in late 2016 as shorthand for young people spending rather than saving for a house, and the line went international. From then on the dish carried a verdict about a generation. That is why the split is so flat (38% love or like it, 31% dislike or hate it) and why 10% of Americans told YouGov they were not sure: some people are rating breakfast and some are rating an argument.
