Cold pizza is a minority habit with unusually committed defenders: 28% of Americans prefer their leftover pizza cold, against 65% who want it warmed. What makes it interesting is that the preference does not split the way most food preferences do. YouGov's breakdown found the sharpest division was not by age or region but by race: only 8% of Black Americans preferred cold pizza, with 80% choosing warmed, compared with 32% of White Americans who were happy to eat it straight from the fridge. That is a wider gap than almost any other item in the same survey produced. Part of what is being measured is not taste but a rule about food: whether refrigerated leftovers are something you are allowed to eat as-is, or something that has to be put back through heat before it counts as a meal. Cold pizza tends to be defended as a deliberate choice, since chilling firms the cheese and mutes the grease, rather than as laziness. The disagreement is about whether that counts as a different dish or a skipped step.
