Your verdict
One ballot per browser per day, counted the moment it lands. This is the same ballot and the same dedupe as the daily card; there is no second, weaker vote path on this page.

Reading history
One point per day, each of them the 30-day window ending that day. A day with no snapshot is a gap in the line, never a line drawn through it.
History starts when seven daily snapshots exist with a reading.
Daily snapshots with a reading so far: 0. A snapshot is written once a day and carries a reading only once the subject has ten counted ballots in the window.

A quarantined or excluded ballot is recorded and not counted, and nothing is ever deleted: releasing one makes it count again. The excluded figure is site-wide because the exclusion list stores a ballot id, a reason and a date, and not a subject, so a per-subject figure would be a guess. How exclusions work.

Why people split
The argument sounds like a fight about respecting the work, but the polling suggests most of the public is not in the argument at all. In April 2022, 66% of American TV watchers had not heard that streaming services offered variable playback; fourteen months later, 74% still had not. So the roughly one in ten who speed things up are not a tenth of a broad debate. They are a large share of the minority who know the control is there. The second thing the two surveys show is how little anything moved in between: 11% then 10% had tried it, and 55% then 59% said they would not be interested in trying. That stability is unusual for a habit attached to a new feature, where you would normally expect adoption to climb as awareness spreads. It points to an objection that is not about unfamiliarity but about a rule people hold on how a story is meant to be received. It is the same instinct that makes speeding up a song feel like a different act from speeding up a lecture.
